I have been fascinated with the dead since I was a tiny Kicks. Some kids begged their parents to
take them to the playground- me, nah. I wanted to visit a graveyard. Is there anything more
interesting than ogling ornate headstones or taking comfy coffins out for a spin? In my mind
there is nothing else that could make for a more entertaining evening other than running into
an old friend. It’s always fun to see someone floating around when I am passing through and
hear all about the new afterlife.
My macabre obsession led me to find a zine that I absolutely adore, Dead in Hollywood.
Created by Castroburger, each issue spotlights the unusual and tragic deaths within
Hollywood. It is unfortunate that often the way in which someone dies becomes more
interesting than the life itself. However, it sure does make for an fascinating read. Within
each issue, the zine manages to combine two of my favorite things: dead folks and movies.
